  • Homeless man shocks police by driving a luxury car

  • Family exploited government aid and hidden income for lavish living

.French officers were stunned when they stopped a speeding Ferrari, discovering the driver relied on state welfare

The luxury vehicle, a red Ferrari Portofino, is valued at around €250,000 (approximately $250,000).

The incident occurred in France’s Vaucluse region, where traffic police stopped the car after it exceeded 250 km/h.

Shock grew when the driver, appearing well-dressed and affluent, revealed he had no job, assets, or personal income.

Initial investigations showed the homeless man had lived for years relying on government assistance.

When questioned about the car, he claimed it belonged to his mother, but registration records showed it was under a real estate company run by him, his mother, and two siblings.

Further investigations uncovered a complex scheme: the family hid part of their real estate income to avoid taxes while continuing to collect government benefits, enabling them to live luxuriously while officially appearing bankrupt and unemployed.

Authorities estimate the family defrauded at least €1.8 million (around $1.9 million) in social welfare funds, in addition to earning about €1.6 million (around $1.9 million) in undeclared income.

The scheme involved carefully concealing assets and income to exploit state resources.

After the investigation concluded, police arrested the homeless man and his family, pressing charges against all involved.

Authorities noted the case is a rare but serious example of fraud combining tax evasion and illegal benefit claims.
