An unusual incident unfolded at a primary school in Riyadh after a pupil brought gold jewellery from his family home and handed it out to classmates as gifts, school officials said.

The episode raised immediate questions from the school administration after teachers noticed several students in possession of gold items during the school day.

When asked about their source, the child explained that he had taken them from his mother’s drawer at home, according to informed sources.
