Mother of victims left to buy household supplies; fire caused by mobile phone charger

A tragic incident shook the Egyptian city of Giza, claiming the lives of three siblings and injuring three others, as a massive fire engulfed their apartment, turning the joy of their home into a painful catastrophe.

The Egyptian Ministry of Interior received a report of a large fire in a residential apartment, where several children were trapped inside. According to forensic experts, the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit from a mobile phone charger, which quickly spread to the first and second floors of the building.

Contents reduced to ashes Despite intensive efforts by civil defense teams to control the flames, the apartment’s contents were reduced to ashes, and the innocence of the young children could not be spared. The fire resulted in the deaths of the siblings: Laila Mohamed Ahmed (8 years), Zain (5 years), and Younes (3 years), while three other children were hospitalized for treatment of their injuries.

Initial investigations by the Public Prosecution revealed that the children’s mother had left them in the apartment briefly to buy household supplies, but she was shocked to find the tragic fire that claimed the lives of her three children before she could return.

The incident sparked deep sorrow across Egypt, with many expressing their sympathy for a family that lost its beloved children in a few heartbreaking moments, emphasizing once again the importance of strict caution with electrical appliances and continuous supervision of children at home.
