A woman said she felt "violated" after finding a hidden live-streaming camera inside a toilet she had used at a restaurant.
The 32-year-old victim explained that she was having dinner with her husband at a Thai restaurant in Leicester, UK, between Christmas and New Year, when she noticed the camera and immediately alerted staff.
Leicestershire Police confirmed they received the report and launched an investigation, but no arrests have been made so far.
The victim said: "It makes me feel sick – I've tried to distance myself from thinking about it, but whoever did this has won; they have a part of me now."
She discovered a small black camera hidden under the toilet seat inside a cubicle, wrapped in kitchen roll with a visible black lens. It was later found to be connected to the internet.
She added: "I turned around and looked down and saw a small black dot – it stood out because the toilet is white. There was a small camera with some wires and a battery covered in kitchen roll, and my stomach sank. The thought that someone was watching terrified me. It’s very uncomfortable to think that someone now has this footage. Many people must have used that toilet."
Leicestershire Police said they were informed of the camera the next day and that officers attended the restaurant and seized the device for examination.
Further investigations included reviewing the restaurant's CCTV and speaking with staff to try to identify the person responsible, along with giving advice to remain vigilant.
The restaurant chain’s spokesperson said a customer reported a "suspicious object" the same night, adding: "Our staff acted correctly and informed the police immediately, who now have the device. We are fully cooperating with their investigation."
