David Beckham spoke for the first time following posts by his eldest son Brooklyn, which revealed details of a potential family feud, with the former football star commenting on his children’s “mistakes” on social media.
This came during Beckham’s appearance on a media program, where he discussed mental health and the impact of social media.
He stressed the power of social media “for good and for bad,” warning about the dangers of unlimited access, while also highlighting his positive experiences using the platform for humanitarian causes.
Beckham explained that his children—Brooklyn (26), Romeo (23), Cruz (20), and Harper (14)—are still learning to balance freedom with responsibility.
He said: “I’ve tried to teach them. Kids make mistakes, and that’s part of learning. Sometimes you have to let them make those mistakes.”
Beckham’s remarks came after Brooklyn’s explosive Instagram posts, in which he explained why he distanced himself from the family, saying: “I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private. I do not want to reconcile with my family. This time I am standing up for myself.”
Brooklyn also addressed his mother Victoria’s treatment of his wife Nicola Peltz before and during their wedding, claiming that his father was the reason they missed his star-studded 50th birthday.
He said: “We traveled to London to celebrate my dad’s birthday, and we were rejected all week while we tried to organize time with him at the hotel. He refused all our attempts unless it was during his big birthday party. When he finally agreed to see me, it was on the condition that Nicola wasn’t invited, which was a slap in the face.”
Brooklyn added that the family refused to see him at all when they later traveled to Los Angeles, further escalating family tensions that continue to occupy public attention.
