The Egyptian authorities have begun investigations based on a complaint submitted by media personality Basma Wahbe against the Lebanese artist Maya Diab, following the referral of the complaint to the public prosecution due to Diab’s statements concerning the artist Dina El-Sherbiny.

It is scheduled that the prosecution will summon Basma Wahbe tomorrow, Tuesday, to hear her statements regarding the submitted complaint.

The consultant Haidy El-Fadaly, lawyer of Basma Wahbe, submitted the complaint demanding the ban of Diab from entering Egypt, following the latter’s statements regarding the divorce crisis of the artist Karim Mahmoud Abdel Aziz from his wife Ann El-Rifai.

Wahbe’s move ignited a large wave of controversy on social media, after appearing in a video in which she attacked Maya in a scathing manner.

The complaint pointed out that Basma Wahbe accused Maya Diab of insulting Egyptians, which necessitates taking the necessary legal measures.

The lawyer clarified that she also submitted another complaint to the competent authorities to prevent Maya Diab from entering Egypt based on these statements.
