The name of Lebanese artist Fadl Shaker topped social media platforms in recent hours, becoming a major topic of public conversation despite his physical absence and imprisonment, reaffirming that his voice remains present and capable of stirring emotions.
Although he did not attend in person, Fadl Shaker was the surprise of the Joy Awards ceremony held on Saturday evening as part of Riyadh Season, where he won two impactful awards, earning the title of the event’s true “absent yet present” figure.
When it was announced that he had won “Favorite Artist” in the music category and “Favorite Song” for his track “Sahhak El Shouq”, silence filled the hall before emotions surged with the broadcast of a heartfelt audio message he addressed to his audience, saying:
“To everyone who listened to and loved the song, to every heart that remembered, and to everyone who voted… I want to say thank you.”
He added in his message:
“Just being nominated for an award is a great honor for me. That alone is a motivation and a responsibility to continue for your sake, and proof that music always remains the language that brings us together and unites us.”
The two awards were received by his son, artist Mohammad Fadl Shaker, who also achieved a notable milestone by winning the “New Face” award in the song category. He said in media statements:
“Congratulations to my father. This is by God’s grace and, of course, thanks to my father—without him, I wouldn’t be here today. The award is his… and God willing, we will see Fadl Shaker soon.”
Mohammad Shaker also extended his thanks to everyone who voted for his father, revealing that Fadl Shaker is preparing to release new works and artistic surprises set to see the light in 2026.
It is worth noting that the ceremony was held at ANB Arena in Riyadh and featured standout performances along with honoring a distinguished group of Arab and international artists, amid wide audience engagement.
