The city of Banha witnessed a shocking tragedy after the death of five children in a gas leak incident inside their home, which turned a house full of life into a scene of silence and unbearable loss. According to activists and close contacts of the family,
Notably, the parents were abroad for work to improve their children’s lives, and their aunt was taking care of them and checking on them. Yet death overtook their future, and they left wrapped in shrouds. Photos of the victims spread like wildfire immediately after the tragic incident, and the identities of the mother and her five children were also circulated.
Close sources revealed the mother’s identity as Dr. Ibtisam Nasr, a surgery professor at Banha University. According to preliminary investigations, one of the children was taking a shower when the accident occurred, but fate was faster: the water heater exploded, releasing toxic gases while the siblings were sleeping, leading to their deaths.
The mother had returned from abroad, and instead of giving toys and gifts to her children, aged between 8 and 16, she faced eternal separation and prayed for strength and patience in this harsh moment.
In heart-wrenching cries, the mother called her children by name: "Ya Ibrahim… Ya Rawda… Ya Khadija… Ya Mariam… Ya Haneen… where have you gone?" expressing unbearable pain and deep sorrow over their loss in a moment of betrayal.
The house that was once full of laughter and play became a silent place, and the children’s rooms became witnesses to a tragedy no one could anticipate. According to family sources, Dr. Ibtisam felt completely powerless, unable to save anyone as she was used to in operating rooms, facing the bitter reality of losing her children.
Amidst profound grief, activists and family contacts called on everyone to pray for the five children, emphasizing that what the mother and family endured constitutes a major human tragedy, and urged remembering the children’s names and praying for mercy, safety, and peace for them, while the mother’s tears and suffering continued unabated.
