Malaysian police arrested a 34-year-old man for allegedly forcing his 10-year-old son to steal daily necessities from a shop in Bahau.
The deputy chief of Jempol Police, DSP R. Premkumar, said the police received a report about a child who stole a 200-gram packet of coffee under his father’s instructions.
He added that a supermarket supervisor filed the report at Bahau Police Station, which led to the suspect’s arrest.
The suspect is set to be remanded, while the child was handed over to his mother.
In a statement, the officer said: “Initial investigations revealed that the suspect frequently directed and forced his eldest son to steal daily necessities, such as Milo powder, from several previous shops. If the child refused, the suspect would scold him and threaten to inflict physical harm.”
He added that background checks revealed the suspect has seven criminal records and additional records related to prohibited substances.
