  • She managed to remove it safely without injuries

A woman in Australia woke up to a major shock after finding a "carpet python" measuring two and a half metres coiled on top of her bed.

Rachel Bloor explained that the weight of the snake on her stomach and chest made her initially think it was her Labradoodle.

She said, "I put my hand on the covers and felt it move in my hands." When she realized it was a snake, she quickly woke her husband and asked him to turn on the lights.

Her husband spotted the massive snake and warned her, "Don’t move, there’s a carpet python about two and a half metres long on top of you."

To protect the family dogs, he removed them from the bedroom, leaving Ms. Bloor to face the reptile herself.

She added, "From the other room, he told me I’d need to crawl out from under the covers."

Carefully, she side-shuffled and managed to get out of bed, guiding the python safely out the window.

Ms. Bloor believes the snake climbed to the second floor, pushed open the shutter, and then coiled on her bed.

Despite the frightening situation, she said she was not scared because she grew up on a farm, adding with a laugh: "I was relieved it wasn’t a toad — toads freak me out."
