Osama Rahbani: Some Behaviors Are "Inappropriate Osama Rahbani: A Clear Contrast in the Funerals of Ziad and Hali Rahbani

The musician Osama Rahbani expressed his deep sadness and frustration over the absence of many artists from Hali Rahbani’s funeral, the son of the great singer Fairuz, pointing to the clear contrast with the large attendance at his brother Ziad Rahbani’s funeral about six months ago.

Osama Rahbani said in television statements that his annoyance was not only related to the number of attendees, but to the meaning of true empathy and the value of a person in moments of loss, emphasizing that some behaviors in such occasions, such as seeking the spotlight or taking photos, were "inappropriate," especially in the presence of a great figure like the late Fairuz.

Rahbani added: "Death is a reality, and humanity must always be present, regardless of names or positions."

Calm and Modest Atmosphere

The funeral was held last Saturday in a calm and modest atmosphere, with attendance limited to family members and a few official and artistic figures, while noting the absence of stars of the arts, which surprised both Fairuz’s fans and the Rahbani family.

Hali Rahbani was born in 1958 and suffered from mental and physical disabilities since childhood, with limited medical expectations for his life span. However, the care and immense love of his mother, Fairuz, were a constant support, away from the spotlight and media. Hali was not part of the artistic or cultural scene, but he embodied a genuine human aspect of Fairuz’s life, expressing values of tenderness, love, and privacy.
