An elderly man died in a horrific accident after being struck by a speeding car, which hurled him a considerable distance into the air before he fell to the ground.

A video captured the moment of the incident, which occurred as 84-year-old Bakr Afju was crossing a road in Turkey’s southern province of Adana via a designated pedestrian crossing during daylight hours.

The impact of the collision caused his body to be thrown into the air before sustaining severe injuries. He was transported to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The police arrested the driver, sparking widespread outrage and calls for stricter punishment, especially given that the accident occurred on a pedestrian crossing.
