  • Trump admits his need to lose weight
  • He said he hasn't tried weight-loss drugs yet, but probably should

U.S. President Donald Trump admitted that he probably should try to lose weight during a recent interview with a group of journalists.

During the conversation, Trump, 79, discussed his health just one week after making a remark that drew attention about taking a large daily dose of aspirin.

He noted that he has never taken any GLP-1 weight-loss medication but acknowledged, “I probably should try it.”

The Trump administration had announced in November 2025 a deal aimed at lowering the cost of GLP-1 drugs, and during a White House event discussing the deal, he mentioned that some members of his administration use these medications, naming them directly.

The president added, “I’ve made it a point to undergo medical exams more than anyone else,” highlighting the importance of the president being in good health and cognitively fit.

Trump’s official physical exam results from April 2025 showed he had lost about 9 kg since his first term in office, with his weight then at 101 kg, compared to 111 kg in 2020.

He is 191 cm tall and is currently classified as overweight according to the CDC’s Body Mass Index.

However, Trump is known for mocking others’ appearances, including attacking contestants in the Miss Universe pageant—telling one, “Suck your gut in,” and calling another “Miss Piggy.”

He also fat-shamed one of his supporters in 2019 over his weight, telling him, “Go home and start exercising,” after mistaking him for a protester at a New Hampshire rally.

Despite these remarks, Trump is not known to enjoy exercise, aside from playing golf. He recently said, “I just don’t like it. It’s boring. Walking or running on a treadmill for hours like some people do—that’s not for me.”
