The case of Turkish star Dogukan Gungor, the lead actor of the series “Cranberry Sherbet” known for his role as “Fatih,” witnessed a notable development following the decision to release him after his detention as part of a wide-ranging security operation targeting a number of figures from the art scene and social media influencers in Turkey.
According to information revealed by Turkish journalist Birsen, Gungor was subjected to questioning as part of the ongoing investigations before judicial authorities decided to release him without imposing any additional measures, such as detention or judicial supervision, after he gave his statement to the prosecution.
The security operation covered several Turkish provinces, including Istanbul, Izmir, Denizli, and Mugla, and resulted in arrest warrants being issued for 26 individuals, including artists and influencers, within the framework of a broad investigation led by the Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office.
A number of other well-known figures were also released, including singer Alya Sahinler and actresses Saniye Deniz and Serin Yildirim, while 19 other individuals were formally detained, with various legal measures applied against them, including pretrial detention or house arrest, in accordance with decisions issued by the competent prosecution.
This case falls within a series of multi-phase security campaigns targeting networks suspected of involvement in illegal activities within the artistic community and celebrity circles. These campaigns began in late December 2025 and have received wide media coverage.
The raids were carried out during the early morning hours in the first days of January 2026, after which the suspects were transferred to police stations before being referred to the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Caglayan Courthouse in Istanbul to complete the investigations and record their statements.
