The case of Lebanese artist Fadel Shaker has taken a new and decisive turn after he appeared before the military court in the first session to face accusations related to participating in armed actions during the security incidents that took place in Sidon and Mount Lebanon since 2013, which had led to the issuance of absentee verdicts against him.

Shaker, who spent years in the "Ain al-Hilweh" camp, captured media attention after surrendering himself recently to the Lebanese authorities. Local media sources confirmed that the court scheduled a new session for his trial today, Friday, with expectations of the possibility of his release pending investigation.

The sources revealed that the singing star explained in the investigations that threats from the former Syrian regime pushed him to seek refuge and protection with Sheikh Ahmad Al-Assir in the period preceding the known events in Sidon.

Shaker completely denied any participation in battles against the Lebanese army, affirming that all witnesses and evidence confirm the accuracy of his statements, which strengthens his legal position in the case.

The sources added that Shaker’s defense team, led by lawyer Amata Mubarak, submitted a request for his release pending investigation, especially after the charge related to Hilal Hammoud was dropped against him.
