In a tragic incident in Bitlis Province, eastern Turkey, a young Turkish woman lost her life on the sidewalk, in front of passersby, after a large block of snow fell on her from the roof of a tall building.

A surveillance camera recording showed the shocking moments of the accident, where the snow block slipped from the eight-story building onto the young woman, Ayşe İdir, knocking her to the ground before a second large block fell on top of her.

Passersby rushed to help her, and a rescue team provided first aid at the scene before she was transported to the hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries.

Turkish media reported that the police opened an investigation to determine whether negligence led to the death of the 20-year-old woman.

Local authorities also warned citizens of similar dangers, coinciding with a severe cold wave and heavy snowfall in the region.

The incident sparked widespread outrage on social media, with users calling for building residents to clear their rooftops to prevent repeated snow-related accidents affecting passersby.
