Fremont police arrested a 93-year-old man on a homicide charge following a shooting incident in which he allegedly targeted his wife on Saturday morning.

Officers responded to the 5000 block of Mowry Avenue after the suspect reported that he had shot his wife and wished to surrender himself to the police.

Upon arrival, Richard Hocking, 93, was detained near his vehicle, and the victim was found in the front seat of the car.

Police confirmed the victim had sustained physical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, and a firearm was recovered.

Hocking gave a statement to the police regarding the reason behind the incident, but authorities have not disclosed details.

He was booked and held on charges of homicide and firearm use.

Preliminary information indicates the incident was isolated, and the victim’s identity has not yet been released.
