An Iraqi woman lost her life as a result of suffocation caused by a gas leak inside her home, while her sister was left in critical condition due to the same incident, before medical teams succeeded in saving her life following urgent intervention.

The incident took place in the Klār area of Sulaymaniyah Governorate within the Kurdistan Region, northeastern Iraq. Rafiq Qadir, director of the Emergency Hospital in the Shahid Hêjar neighborhood, stated that the hospital received the two sisters on Saturday morning. They are residents of the Koran neighborhood and had suffered from gas inhalation, noting that both women are over fifty years old.

He explained that the gas leak led to the death of one of the women due to her health condition, while the other’s condition deteriorated, necessitating her transfer to a hospital in the city of Sulaymaniyah to continue treatment.

Horrific accident In a separate incident, Diyala Governorate in northeastern Iraq witnessed a horrific traffic accident that resulted in the death of a woman and the injury of seven members of the same family, including children, after their vehicle collided with a truck in the Muqdadiyah district.

A security source confirmed that the accident occurred on a main road. The victim’s body was transferred to the forensic medicine department, while the injured were taken to hospital to receive medical care. The source also noted that the truck driver, born in 2006, was detained for investigation and legal procedures.
