Developing the Site While Preserving the Original Architectural Style of the House The Family of Umm Kulthum Expressed Their Appreciation for This Initiative

The Dakahlia Governorate announced the launch of an ambitious cultural project aiming to transform the house of the legendary Arab singer Umm Kulthum, in the village of Tamai Al-Zahaira, in the Sinbillawin district, into a museum that showcases her artistic career and provides visitors from Egypt and abroad with a comprehensive cultural experience.

During a field visit to the house and its surrounding area, Major General Tarek Marzouk, Governor of Dakahlia, emphasized the need to develop the site while preserving the house’s original architectural style, highlighting Umm Kulthum’s status as the "Star of the East" and her significant artistic legacy, stressing that the museum should become a prime attraction for those interested in authentic Arab art.

A Living Artistic History

He explained that the project coincides with the renovation of Umm Kulthum Theater at the Mansoura Cultural Palace and the creation of a new museum housing the singer’s personal belongings, making it a cultural center that displays her artistic history and introduces visitors to her creativity and unique legacy.

Meanwhile, Umm Kulthum’s family expressed their appreciation for this initiative, noting the historical importance of the house and its role in the start of her exceptional artistic career, affirming that the site attracts a large number of local and international visitors eager to learn about the life of the Arab singing icon.

The family also emphasized that Umm Kulthum’s legacy remains strong despite more than fifty years since her passing, with her songs continuing to influence new generations and maintaining her prominent place in the memory of Arab art.
