Divine providence prevented any loss of life following a collapse and major cracks that affected one of the main streets in the village of Iraq Al-Karak in the governorate, in an incident that nearly turned into a humanitarian disaster.

The correspondent of Roya TV in the governorate reported that the collapse occurred due to the saturation of the soil with heavy rainwater that fell on the area during the recent weather depression, which led to a sharp and dangerous subsidence in the road surface, coinciding with heavy traffic movement in the area.

Cracks formed a major obstacle

He explained that the cracks constituted a major obstacle to the movement of vehicles and citizens, amid growing fears that the collapse could expand if the damp weather conditions continue. This caused a state of concern among residents, fearing a recurrence of the incident or the وقوع of injuries.

This incident once again highlights the repeated warnings regarding road safety in areas with difficult terrain, especially when exposed to exceptional amounts of rainfall that exceed the absorption capacity of drainage channels and the surrounding soil, which calls for strengthening maintenance and preventive measures to protect citizens’ lives.
