Saudi media personality Ahmed Al-Shugairi was struck by the death of his father, businessman Mazen Al-Shugairi, on Sunday, December 28, in a moving post on his Instagram account in which he expressed his deep sorrow and gratitude for all his father had done throughout his life.
Al-Shugairi shared an old photo with his father, accompanied by a heartfelt message describing his father as "my support," "my friend," and "my teacher," affirming that his father’s influence would remain present in his life.
"Praise be to God, may He ease your suffering" Al-Shugairi wrote: "May God have mercy on you, my father, you did well by me and by everyone you interacted with in your life. You were my support, my friend, my teacher. Praise be to God, may He ease your suffering, and I ask Him to bless you as you blessed us. May your soul rest in peace and paradise, by God’s will."
The post received wide engagement from followers and public figures, who offered condolences and prayers for the deceased, praising Al-Shugairi’s evident bond with his father and the values he expressed in his programs and meaningful content.
Emirati actor Habib Ghuloum wrote in condolences: "There is no power nor strength except with God Almighty, may God have mercy on him, forgive him, and grant patience to your hearts. Our heartfelt condolences, indeed we belong to God and to Him we shall return."
Mazen Al-Shugairi was a well-known businessman in Saudi Arabia of Palestinian descent, while Ahmed Al-Shugairi is a Saudi media personality, writer, and TV host, famous for the series "Khawater," aimed at youth, discussing many social issues, running for nearly 11 seasons, and characterized by his simple and relatable style.
The Al-Shugairi family went through multiple geographical stages, moving from Hijaz to Egypt in the past, then living in the city of Acre in Palestine, before Mazen Al-Shugairi and his family settled in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
