- Spanish town of Ibi turns its streets into a battlefield of eggs and flour
- Festive food fight
The Spanish city of Ibi hosted the activities of a unique annual festival known as "Els Enfarinats," during which the streets and houses of the city were covered with flour and eggs following a celebratory food battle.
The festival, which dates back more than 200 years, sees participants dressed in military-style costumes, staging a mock armed takeover using eggs, flour, and fireworks.
Participants, known as the "egg throwers," roam the streets requesting "taxes" in the form of charitable donations from residents, with those who refuse potentially facing a barrage of eggs or flour.
The festival takes place in the Alicante province on December 28 every year, coinciding with the "Day of the Innocents," which is similar to April Fool’s Day in Spain, filling the city with joy and humor among locals and visitors.
