  • Huge bomb safely removed from Central Belgrade
  • Specialized Ttams transport it for neutralization without incidents

Serbian authorities confirmed the discovery of an unexploded 470-kilogram bomb from World War II, which was safely removed from a construction site in central Belgrade.

It was determined that the bomb is American-made, of the AN-M44 type, and dates back to the air raids carried out by the Allies on the city in 1944.

Specialized teams carefully secured the area before transporting the bomb under strict safety procedures to a military training ground about 180 kilometers from the capital, where it will be safely detonated under controlled conditions without posing any risk to the population.

No injuries were reported, and the operation was completed without incident.

Temporary traffic restrictions were imposed to ensure residents’ safety during the bomb’s removal.

Serbia continues to discover unexploded ordnance from past conflicts, particularly during construction and infrastructure projects.

Authorities confirmed that all such discoveries are handled according to established protocols, with all newly found bombs successfully removed and neutralized.
