A man in Hyderabad, India, allegedly doused his wife with petrol and set her on fire in front of their children, resulting in her death.

When his daughter tried to intervene to save her mother, he reportedly pushed her into the flames as well before fleeing the scene.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the man suspected his wife of having an affair, which had led to repeated arguments between them.

On Christmas Eve, during one of these disputes, the man lost his temper and set her on fire.

Neighbors who heard the screams rushed in and managed to rescue the young girl, while the mother succumbed to her burn injuries.

Investigations also suggest that the husband had lured his wife back from her parents’ home—where she had sought refuge after several disputes over infidelity—promising to improve their relationship.

Police are currently conducting a manhunt for the suspect.
