Child Seriously Injured in Violent Attack by Stray Dogs Child Admitted to Emergency Room in Critical Condition

A medical source at Al-Ramadi Teaching Hospital in Anbar Governorate reported that a child was violently attacked by a group of stray dogs in one of the city’s neighborhoods, resulting in serious injuries that required urgent transfer to the hospital.

This incident comes just days after the tragic death of a young man named "Hamza," who succumbed to a dog bite in Baghdad, sparking widespread public concern and prompting campaigns to support victims of rabies, including fundraising to provide necessary medical treatment.

The medical source confirmed that the child was admitted to the emergency room with multiple injuries across various parts of his body, and his condition is described as critical.

The medical staff immediately began providing first aid and subjected him to intensive treatment and continuous monitoring to ensure the stability of his health and prevent any potential complications.

The source emphasized that the medical team is doing its utmost to preserve the child’s life, amid fears of the spread of stray dogs, which have become a threat to children and residents in several provinces.

Calls for Greater Efforts to Curb the Spread of Stray Dogs

At the same time, the incident raised questions about the effectiveness of treatment protocols for such injuries, amid growing criticism on media outlets and social media pages, which called for stronger measures to control stray dogs and ensure public safety.

In a humanitarian response, activists managed to raise millions of dinars to support efforts to combat stray dogs and provide treatment for rabies victims. Reports confirmed that a campaign launched by an activist via WhatsApp groups collected 10 million Iraqi dinars in just three hours, as an initial installment of a total 50 million dinars needed by the relevant authorities to combat the phenomenon in the city of Nasiriyah and its suburbs.
