At least two people were killed and several others injured after fires led to a partial collapse of the Silver Lake nursing home in Bristol, Pennsylvania, USA.
Authorities said emergency teams received a report of a gas smell around 2:00 p.m. local time on Tuesday, and upon arrival, a massive fire broke out.
Five people remain missing, though officials noted they are uncertain whether they were inside the building at the time of the incident.
Fire chief Kevin DePolito said rescue teams evacuated residents through windows, staircases, and elevators, moving them to safe locations, adding: "There was a police officer who carried two people on his shoulders and ran toward the medical team."
Several people trapped in the collapsed basement were evacuated, according to DePolito, who noted that emergency teams are still in rescue mode and have not yet moved to recovery operations.
Governor Josh Shapiro confirmed that the number of injuries has not yet been determined and that the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Photos and video clips circulating on social media show the partially collapsed building with thick smoke rising from it.
