Lebanese singer Haifa Wehbe took a decisive legal step to confront what she described as the spread of offensive content on social media, after the circulation of fabricated photos and videos portraying her in a compromising manner, produced using artificial intelligence and falsely attributed to her.
Wehbe tasked her lawyer, Sherif Hafez, with following up on the lawsuits filed against these accounts and pages. The circulated materials were reviewed by a consultancy specializing in digital technology, which concluded that all the images and videos are entirely fake and created using artificial intelligence. This report is set to be submitted to judicial and police authorities for the necessary legal actions.
Haifa also requested that all links and circulated content be presented to the Internet Investigation Department of the Ministry of Interior for technical examination, and to identify and legally hold accountable those responsible for creating and managing these accounts and groups.
In a separate legal track, the Third Circuit of the Administrative Court reserved the case filed by Haifa Wehbe against the Syndicate of Musical Professions and its head, Mostafa Kamel, with lawyer Hany Samah intervening, for judgment in a session scheduled on December 28.
The State Commissioners Authority had previously issued a report stating that the Syndicate’s decision to prevent Haifa Wehbe from performing in Egypt was invalid, affirming that the decision lacks legal basis, contradicts constitutional rights related to freedom of creativity, and represents non-judicial censorship of the arts, which the constitution rejects.
