  • Boy who lost his legs due to parental abuse raises $147,000 to bring joy to abused children
  • The foundation took 26 families including 61 children from across Britain on a trip to Lapland

An 11-year-old boy, who lost his legs as a result of injuries caused by his biological parents, raised £120,000 (about $147,000) to take a group of children who had suffered abuse on a visit to Lapland during the holiday season.

Tony Hadjel said Christmas is a special time for him, and after his first trip to Lapland two years ago, he wanted to give other children the “magic Lapland experience too.”

Tony now runs a foundation supporting children who have experienced abuse.

After launching the foundation’s special Lapland campaign, it took 26 families, including 61 children from different parts of Britain, on a “trip of a lifetime.”

Paula Hadjel, Tony’s foster mother, said some of the children had experienced hardships similar to Tony’s own.

She added: “It was wonderful to see all the parents and children creating amazing memories that will stay with them for life. Tony was very happy that we were able to make that happen for everyone.”

She also noted that the foundation received “hundreds of applications” when the Lapland campaign was launched.
