A lucky couple managed to win one million pounds sterling (around 1.2 million dollars) in the British National Lottery, marking their second win after their first victory in June 2018.
Richard and Faye Stevenson Davies won again by matching five main numbers and the bonus ball in the Lotto draw on 26 November, with experts estimating the odds at more than 24 trillion to one.
Faye said, “We knew the chances of this happening again were extremely slim, but we are proof that anything is possible if you believe in it.”
Richard explained that the second win did not come from simply picking the right numbers, but through a series of four consecutive draws. Matching two numbers in the Lotto automatically grants a free Lucky Dip for the next draw, which continued until their win on 26 November.
Despite this big win, the couple continues to support their local community.
Richard, a former hairdresser, helps at a shelter for the homeless in Cardiff and receives funding from the National Lottery, while also assisting friends as a delivery driver.
Faye, a former nurse, volunteers at a community kitchen and provides mental health consultations for local organizations.
Faye said, “The first time we won, we gave cars as gifts, donated a bus to the local rugby team, and helped friends and family as much as possible. This time, we will take our time and enjoy the moment.”
Richard told a local media outlet that going public with this year’s win was a deliberate decision, adding, “Since the first win, we’ve participated in many charity events, and with all the depressing news these days, it felt good to spread a little joy.”
