The Palestinian short narrative film “Endangered”, directed by Saeed Zagha, won the Golden Yusr Award for Short Arab Films during the closing ceremony of the fifth edition of the Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah.
The film’s victory came after competing with 10 other films in the Short Arab Films competition.
In his speech on stage, director Saeed Zagha expressed his gratitude for the win, describing the award as recognition for a cinematic work that reflects the human suffering in Gaza over two years, and emphasizing that it honors Palestine and Arab cinema for its role in highlighting humanitarian issues.
Zagha also thanked filmmakers from Palestine and the Arab world who have addressed Gaza’s hardships in their works, praising several directors, including Shireen Duibis, Ann Marie Jaser, Tunisian Kawthar Ben Haniya, Tarzan Nasser, Tawfiq Barhoum, and others.
“Endangered” tells the story of a Palestinian surgeon who must traverse a rugged road in the West Bank after a night shift at the hospital, realizing during her journey that this isolated path will lead her to a pivotal moment that could change her life forever.
