Gold Prices Continue to Rise Jordanians Lament Last Year’s Gold Prices
The rise in gold prices has dominated conversations among Jordanians, as the local market witnessed a new increase on Thursday of 20 qirsh per gram across all carats, while the price of 14-carat gold rose by only 10 qirsh per gram, according to the General Union of Owners of Jewelry and Gold Shops.
People have been reminiscing about the "days of fifty qirsh per gram," sharing their surprise at the continuous rise in prices.
According to the morning rate, the selling price of 21-carat gold, the most popular among citizens, reached JD 85.6 per gram at jewelry shops, compared to JD 82.1 per gram for purchase.
Meanwhile, the selling prices for 24-, 18-, and 14-carat gold were JD 98, 75.9, and 57.6 per gram, respectively, marking a new indicator of the strong price surge and the local market’s sensitivity to global fluctuations.
