She's searching for ways to overcome it
Actress and singer Miley Cyrus revealed that she suffers from an intense fear of paper during her appearance on a media program, admitting that she “needs help.”
Cyrus began by referring to “her anxiety regarding Christmas,” specifically her fear of wrapping paper, emphasizing that paper—especially when touched by people with dry hands—makes her “feel like vomiting.”
She admitted that she discards “nice letters” without reading them because she cannot tolerate traditional writing tools, pointing out that she prefers communication via text messages, email, or phone calls.
She explained that cigarettes are “acceptable” and tablets have helped her read, but she criticizes cardboard for its roughness and excessive wrapping, noting that her fiancé Max Morando opens all packages outside the home.
She said she is considering trying Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy or hypnotherapy, given the impact of this phobia on her daily life.
Cyrus had previously used EMDR to overcome stage fright, stating that she “loved the sessions and they saved her life.”
