A man in his sixties dies in a house fire His legs had been amputated due to complications from diabetes
A tragic incident occurred in the province of Kocaeli, Turkey, where a man in his sixties lost his life from suffocation after a fire broke out in his home. He was unable to escape because he had lost both of his legs a short time earlier due to complications from diabetes.
63-year-old Asim Bal suffered burns and inhalation of thick smoke during the fire in his single-story home. When firefighters arrived to extinguish the flames, they were shocked to find that the man could not leave the house. It was later revealed that he was amputated at the legs, preventing his escape.
He received first aid at the scene and was then transported to the hospital, but despite all efforts to save him, he passed away.
A video of the small house with large windows showed that an escape was possible for anyone capable of moving, which made the tragedy even more heartbreaking.
Police are continuing their investigation to determine the cause of the fire and why the victim was left alone to face his tragic fate, after having undergone a leg amputation just about two months earlier.
