  • Crime committed in family restaurant

The Nassau County Police in New York State have accused a 30-year-old man of killing his parents in a horrifying crime inside their Italian restaurant in Bethpage.

Officials said Vito D’Ambrosio, from Seaford, stabbed his mother, Angela Polischiano (62), and his father, Antonio D’Ambrosio (70), during an altercation in the family restaurant on Hicksville Road near Boundaray Street.

D’Ambrosio arrived at the restaurant around 9 a.m. and entered a back room, where he stabbed his mother in the throat before attacking his father, according to investigations.

He was arrested in the restaurant parking lot, his hands and clothes covered in blood, but he pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder for the victims while recovering at the Nassau University Medical Center.

D’Ambrosio had been estranged from his family since November, after a court order barred him from approaching them following a family incident with one of his siblings, and he was wearing an ankle monitoring device at the time of his arrest.

Customers began placing memorial notes outside the restaurant in mourning for his parents’ deaths.

Loreen Dicanio, one of the customers, said: “They were good people. This was truly tragic, and they had a beautiful family.”

One customer mentioned that D’Ambrosio admitted to him before the police arrived, saying: “I stabbed my parents.”

D’Ambrosio remains in custody until the next court hearing on December 9.
