• Meghan tries to contact her sick father

Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle attempted to reach her estranged father, Thomas Markle, who is reportedly seriously ill in a hospital in the Philippines.

A spokesperson for Meghan said, "I can confirm that she tried to contact her father."

Reports stated that Markle underwent surgery during which his leg was amputated, and it remains unclear whether communication between them was successful.

It is worth noting that the relationship between Meghan and her father became strained before her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018, particularly during the engagement period, which received intense media attention regarding his family.

Markle had previously been involved with paparazzi who were paid for photos showing him as if preparing for his daughter’s wedding, which led to his withdrawal from attending the wedding a few days before due to health issues. King Charles III – then Prince of Wales – accompanied Meghan down the aisle.

No further attempts to restore a natural relationship between Meghan and her father after the marriage have been confirmed, and it is believed that Markle has not met Meghan and Harry’s children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Markle criticized his daughter and her husband’s decision to step back from royal duties in the UK and spoke critically of the royal family, saying in a media interview: "I think they are both lost at this stage."

He added, "I don’t know what they are looking for, and I don’t think they know what they are looking for."
