A fire erupted on an Airbus A320 passenger plane while it was taxiing on the runway for takeoff at Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo, Brazil.

The cabin suddenly filled with smoke, and flames appeared from beneath the wing through the plane’s windows, prompting the crew to immediately initiate evacuation procedures using the stairs and inflatable slides.

Airport authorities confirmed that all passengers left the plane safely, despite appearing affected and shocked in video clips that circulated on social media.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the fire originated from ground equipment belonging to a third-party company while handling the plane’s luggage, and not from the aircraft itself.
