YouTube announced the launch of a new feature called YouTube Recap, designed to provide a comprehensive overview of users’ interests and viewing patterns over the year, personalized for each account.

The feature comes in response to increasing demand for tools that showcase annual activity, allowing users to rediscover their top moments on the platform.

It can be accessed directly from the homepage or through the “Your” section on both mobile and desktop devices.

The feature relies on viewing history to highlight the most-followed channels and prominent interests, as well as changes in viewing habits throughout the year.

YouTube Recap presents 12 cards showcasing top channels, interests, and personality trends derived from the most-watched videos.

For music fans, it displays top artists and songs of the year, along with the most-listened-to genres, podcasts, and an overview of global listening trends via YouTube Music.

YouTube confirmed that the feature was developed after nine rounds of feedback and more than 50 tests of different concepts before finalizing the version.

Analysis of viewing data revealed multiple personality types, including the Adventurer, Skill Builder, and Creative Spirit, with more common types like the Sunny, Explorer, and Connector, while Philosopher and Dreamer personalities were rarer.
