Egyptian actress Abeer Sabry launched a frank critique of the social media world, expressing her wish for it to disappear from her life, despite acknowledging that this is almost impossible.

During her honoring at the Creativity and Excellence Forum for her role in the series Al-Halangi, Abeer Sabry stated that she does not prefer to engage heavily in social media, considering these platforms a source of noise and unwarranted intrusion into people’s lives, and emphasized her desire for them to vanish from mobile phones.

"Advice away from the public"

Sabry added that she shares her opinions on societal issues when necessary, but she ensures that personal advice remains private and away from public scrutiny.

She emphasized that she prefers offering guidance directly and gently when needed, avoiding the use of social media platforms for attention-seeking or stirring controversy.

Abeer Sabry criticizes confining actors to specific roles

In another context, Abeer revealed her struggles with artistic diversity during a panel at the Hurghada Youth Cinema Festival, criticizing filmmakers who confine actors to specific roles. She explained that while actors are required to continue and develop, they simultaneously face restrictions that limit their ability to diversify roles and showcase true talent.

She said: "An actor must continue and persist so their skills don’t rust, and they can develop and diversify. But is it in our hands to diversify? We are prohibited from diversifying because a director doesn’t have the freedom to choose me, and someone else controls the selections." She added: "I’m forced to continue in the same circle I’m unhappy with, and I want to move elsewhere, but I don’t know how."

The actress pointed out that these restrictions significantly impact an artist’s career and limit their ability to present varied works that reflect true talent and artistic aspirations.
