A man in central China filed for divorce after his wife spent all their joint savings, totaling 1.16 million yuan (about $163,000), including 670,000 yuan ($94,000) given to a male live streamer.

The husband, surnamed Liu, lives frugally and works 25 km from Xingyang, where his wife and child reside. He sent most of his income to his wife to provide her with “financial security,” after deducting basic expenses and a low rent of 300 yuan ($42) per month.

Liu added that his wife had not worked since their marriage and cared for their child at home.

He recently discovered her bank account was completely empty and that she had also borrowed 80,000 yuan ($11,200).

The wife admitted to spending the full 1.16 million yuan (about $163,000) but could not account for the remainder beyond the 670,000 yuan ($94,000) sent to the male live streamer, whom she never met in person.

Speaking with sadness, Liu said, “I saved on food and expenses and sent all my money to her, but she gave it to another man. I think she just couldn’t bear loneliness.”

He added, “I trusted you so much, but what you did was like a stab in my back. I don’t love you anymore.”

Liu plans to recover half of their shared assets before filing for divorce.
