Woman returns to her family after 17 years of being missing

- Girl lost 17 years ago while buying ice cream reunites with her parents
- She stayed under the care of a charity throughout these years
A long and emotional wait ended when 27-year-old Kiran, who went missing from Islamabad as a child at the age of ten, was reunited with her parents in Karachi.
She was found at a charity center, and her identity was confirmed with the help of authorities.
Officials said Kiran was handed over to her father after her details matched records in the Safe City system.
Kiran told officials that she had gone out to buy ice cream when she lost her way and was later taken to a charity center in Islamabad by an unknown individual.
She was later brought to Karachi by the charity team and remained under their care, receiving both religious and formal education, describing her time at the center as “very pleasant.”
However, she said meeting her parents was “the most important day of my life.”
The center’s head said Kiran had been sent to Islamabad several times in attempts to locate her family, but no progress had been made until now.
She added that in recent weeks, 12 missing children across the country have been reunited with their families, including five girls from Karachi.
News of Kiran’s reunion sparked an emotional reaction online, with many praising the charity center’s ongoing efforts.
