A Chinese-made robot has set a new Guinness World Record by walking 106 kilometers between two eastern cities without stopping.
The "A2" robot, developed in Shanghai, departed from Suzhou at night and reached the Bund area in Shanghai over the course of three days.
Powered by a rapid hot-swap battery system, the robot remained active throughout the journey, officially covering 106.286 kilometers, according to Guinness World Records.
Wang Chuang, senior vice president of the manufacturer, said: "Walking from Suzhou to Shanghai is a tough task even for many humans, but the robot achieved it."
He added: "This accomplishment demonstrates the maturity of the robot’s components, balance algorithms, and endurance, laying a solid foundation for large-scale commercial applications."
The A2 successfully handled complex scenarios such as traffic lights, narrow passages, and crowded sidewalks, maintaining stable movement and perception day and night.
It navigated asphalt roads, tiled walkways, bridges, and ramps, adhering to traffic rules while performing steadily throughout the journey.
Upon arrival, the robot described the journey as an "unforgettable experience in its machine life," humorously adding that it "might need new shoes."
