The German family

The report completely ruled out the possibility of food poisoning. Autopsy results indicate that the deaths may have been caused by exposure to chemical pesticides.

The Turkish Forensic Medicine Institute issued a preliminary and striking report on the sudden death of a German tourist family of four, which caused widespread public concern after they died following meals at a popular restaurant in Istanbul.

The report entirely dismissed the theory that the deaths were caused by food poisoning, confirming that this hypothesis is weak and unsupported by scientific or forensic evidence.

“Chemical Pesticides”

Autopsy results suggested that the deaths may have resulted from the family’s exposure to chemical pesticides in the hotel where they stayed. Toxic substances leaked into Room 201, where they were lodged, and the room had no ventilation system, causing the chemicals to accumulate to dangerous levels.

The report explained that all the victims—father Servet Boğic (37), mother Çiğdem (26), and children Kadir Muhammed (6) and Masal (3)—experienced multiple pains, nausea, and vomiting during their stay in the Fatih district. Their health deteriorated in the hospital, with the children dying first, followed by the parents.

Hotel Closure

Authorities announced the closure of the hotel and launched an extensive investigation, which so far has involved 11 suspects, including hotel staff and employees from nearby restaurants. The final report from the Forensic Institute is awaited to conclusively determine the circumstances of the incident.
