Public anticipation to know the details of the bread-support mechanism Calls for ensuring the value of the support matches the current economic reality

Questions among Jordanians have grown in recent days about the date for distributing bread support and the mechanism for delivering it, at a time when markets are witnessing noticeable price increases and purchasing power continues to decline — placing the issue at the forefront of public concern.

Amid the ongoing anticipation, citizens have called for a fair distribution system and for the value of the financial support to reflect rising prices and low incomes in Jordan, especially as many families are struggling with worsening economic conditions and need assistance to cope with their living burdens.

Minister of Finance Abdul Hakim Al-Shabali revealed, during the recent budget speech before the House of Representatives, that 171 million dinars have been allocated for bread support and basic commodities within the 2026 budget, as part of a plan aimed at easing the pressure on citizens amid the current economic situation.

He also announced the allocation of 124 million dinars for cancer treatment and 210 million dinars to support municipalities — a step that reflects the government’s direction toward strengthening vital service sectors.

Despite announcing the allocated amounts, the details of how and when the support will be distributed remain unclear, prompting citizens to follow developments with great anticipation and call for clear, binding mechanisms that guarantee timely disbursement without further delays.
