Shatha Hassoun Responds in a “Shocking” Way to Basma Bousil’s Remarks

The Iraqi artist Shatha Hassoun broke her silence and posted a video on her Instagram account to clarify her stance on remarks made by artist Basma Bousil on a TV program, which Shatha described as unjustified and provocative.
In the video, Shatha explained that she had received numerous clips in which Basma’s statements were described as "hurtful" and "incomprehensible," noting that she had always supported Basma and considered her "like a daughter of her country." She added, "The response I saw felt like it came from someone who has an issue with me… I only met her once back in Star Academy."
"You are confused and lost" Shatha expressed her disapproval of how the question about her was presented on the show, saying, "If she knew what I did for her behind the scenes… she would have thanked me instead of saying what she said." She directly addressed Basma Bousil: "Shame on you… you’re not the one to speak about me this way… you’re a confused and lost person."
It is worth noting that the disagreement between the two artists is not new; last Ramadan, Shatha commented in an interview on Basma’s reaction following her divorce from Tamer Hosny, describing it as "that of an angry woman." Despite her criticism, Shatha emphasized that Basma is "talented and kind," but lacks life experience due to her early marriage after participating in Star Academy.
Shatha concluded her stance with a statement posted on her Instagram story: "They provoke you to bring out the worst in you and then say this is you… No, dear, this is not what you want," which received widespread engagement from her fans.
