Hollywood icon Sally Kirkland dies at 84

American actress Sally Kirkland, an Oscar nominee and former member of Andy Warhol’s circle, has passed away at the age of 84 after a period of declining health.
She had entered hospice care two days before her death, following several health challenges, including recurring illnesses, fractures, and a dementia diagnosis.
Kirkland began her career as a model before studying acting alongside classmates such as Dustin Hoffman, Robert De Niro, and Al Pacino.
She appeared in off-Broadway productions in the 1960s before moving into film, starring in movies including Blue and Coming Apart.
During the 1970s and 1980s, Kirkland took on minor roles in various films and appeared on television in multiple series.
She earned an Oscar nomination and won a Golden Globe for her role in Anna, and continued her career with notable appearances in JFK, Bruce Almighty, Factory Girl, and 80 for Brady.
In addition to acting, she worked as an acting teacher, with students including Sandra Bullock, Barbra Streisand, and Liza Minnelli.
She once said, “My life is not just about acting, it’s about expressing my vision of life. Everyone deserves a fair chance, no matter the circumstances.”
