A shocking incident in Turkey’s Manisa province has sparked widespread outrage after surveillance footage showed a middle school principal pushing a 13-year-old student with autism down the stairs inside the school

The event took place at Erlamaz Refik Pinar Middle School in the Turgutlu district, where the cameras captured the moment of the assault, while the reasons behind the incident remain unclear

The student’s mother, Derya Yavuz, said her son returned home covered in dust, telling her the principal had pushed him from the upper floor. She added that she immediately went to the school to review the surveillance footage, which confirmed the incident

When I saw the recordings, my hands and feet trembled. I will take this to court, she said

Shinay Calishjan, head of the Autism Rights Solidarity Association, expressed strong condemnation of the event, saying: As a mother, I felt as if this had happened to my own child. I cannot accept that a teacher would do something like this. We will closely monitor the legal proceedings

The Turgutlu governor’s office announced that administrative and judicial investigations into the incident have begun immediately, while the school principal submitted his resignation as a preliminary measure

Authorities confirmed that the investigations are ongoing to ensure accountability and justice for those responsible for the assault
