Citizens Express Happiness Following Government Announcement of Bread Subsi Public Begins Seeking Details on Bread Support and Distribution Mechanisms Amid Lack of Specifics

In a government move that sparked widespread public interest, Jordanians expressed their joy over the announcement of a subsidy for bread and strategic commodities within the 2026 budget, amid previous calls for the return of support to boost purchasing power and improve household living standards.

Minister of Finance, Dr. Abdul Hakim Al-Shibli, stated that the government allocated 171 million Jordanian dinars to support bread and essential commodities, as part of a plan aimed at alleviating the burden on citizens amid current economic conditions.

In his address to the 2026 General Budget and Government Units before the House of Representatives, Al-Shibli also noted that the budget includes 124 million dinars to cover cancer patient treatment and 210 million dinars to support the development and enhancement of municipalities, reflecting the state’s focus on vital sectors and essential services.

Al-Shibli emphasized that the upcoming budget seeks to balance public expenditure control with stimulating the national economy, affirming that spending directed toward social and service sectors is a priority to ensure fairness and improve living standards across all governorates.

Meanwhile, citizens have begun searching for details regarding the subsidy, its mechanisms, and distribution timing, due to the absence of specific announcements during the budget speech before the House of Representatives, where remarks were limited to the allocated amounts and general objectives without specifying implementation details.
