Siblings discover rare comic books worth a fortune in late mother's home

- Valuable collection hidden for decades discovered in family home
- Expected auction could fetch record-breaking millions
Three brothers from California, USA, discovered a rare collection of comic books in the attic of their late mother’s home, estimated to be worth around $6 million when put up for auction
The brothers revealed that the collection includes several very old and valuable comic books that their mother had kept for decades, ever since she and her brother purchased them during the Great Depression and leading up to World War II
The Dallas-based auction house stated that the collection could fetch huge profits at the upcoming comic book auction and may include one of the rarest comic book copies in the world
Three months after the discovery, the brothers contacted the auction house to discuss the possibility of a sale, leaving a message that reached the desk of Vice President Lon Allen, who traveled to San Francisco within days to evaluate the collection
Allen said: The brothers are in their fifties and sixties, and their mother had always told them she had a valuable comic book collection but never showed them. It’s a story opposite to the usual ‘Mom threw away my comics’ tale
The discovered copies are distinguished by high quality, sharp corners, and bright colors, and have been graded 9.0 by evaluation experts, increasing the chances that their value could surpass previous auction records worldwide
Allen added that the family was fortunate that Northern California’s climate helped preserve these old books: “If they had been in an attic here in Texas, they would have been ruined
