Salah ignites it: Real Madrid frustration a sign of the Reds’ exceptional start

The only goal by Argentine Alexis Mac Allister settles the clash
Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp praised his team’s “exceptional performance” against the reigning champions Real Madrid after securing a valuable 1-0 victory in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League showdown.
The lone goal came from a header by Argentine Alexis Mac Allister, deciding the match in Liverpool’s favor.
According to the British news agency PA Media, Klopp highlighted Liverpool’s clear control over the game, reflected in the statistics: Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois—still a haunting figure for the Reds after the 2022 final—was forced to make nine crucial saves from a total of 17 shots by Liverpool players.
Overcoming the slump and regaining form
This victory is vital for Liverpool as it marks a strong return to form following a period of significant inconsistency in results.
It represents Liverpool’s second consecutive triumph, an achievement the team had not managed since September, after losing six out of seven previous matches.
The Dutch manager commented on the impressive feat and the challenge posed by the defending champions:
“The performance was excellent in every respect because we faced an amazing team that is in excellent form, having lost only once and won all their other games.”
Klopp added, expressing his satisfaction: “If you can overcome them, and alongside that maintain the level of performance we saw, it’s a very positive sign for the upcoming period.”
He also addressed the difficult recent stretch his team experienced, candidly admitting: “We went through a very bad period in terms of results, and there is no excuse in the world for losing so many games. But we had to play many matches under significant time pressure.”
A launchpad to challenge the elite
Klopp hopes this resounding victory—especially against a giant like Real Madrid—serves as a new starting point for Liverpool to compete strongly on all fronts and move forward with confidence.
