American star Tom Cruise angered residents of a British town after flying his helicopter at a low altitude, which reportedly scared animals and disturbed locals while he was heading to the annual Scientology event in East Grinstead, West Sussex.

He attended the "Patrons Ball" at the organization’s headquarters, where locals complained about the noise from the helicopter, in addition to the traffic and congestion the event causes every year.

Local reports stated that a minibus carrying attendees to the event was involved in an accident, leading to the closure of a road.

In comments on a local forum, one resident said Cruise’s helicopter “flew over our garden twice and scared the animals,” describing the situation as “extremely disturbing.”

A former Scientology member and activist said the event caused “major disruption in the town,” adding that residents increasingly feel the organization shows little regard for the local community.
